86% of university presidents cite negative effects of ‘liberal political bias on campus’: Poll

Public confidence in American universities has eroded in recent years, and campus administrators have taken notice, blaming not only the high cost of a 4-year degree but the impact of liberal bias in the academy, a new survey of college presidents finds.

“Asked to assess which of several factors were most responsible for declining public support, 98 percent of college and university presidents cited ‘concerns about college affordability and student debt’, 95 percent said ‘concerns over whether higher education prepares students for careers,’ and 86 percent cited the perception of liberal political bias,” reports an extensive new poll from Inside Higher Ed, an independent media company and industry source which tracks higher education.

“About a third of campus leaders agree with the statement that ‘the perception of colleges as places that are intolerant of conservative views is accurate.’ And 51 percent agree the 2016 election ‘exposed that academe is disconnected from much of American society’,” the poll analysis said.

“Perception” is an important term here, the presidents also fretted that the public does not have an realistic impression of the nation’s schools.

“Only 13 percent of college and university presidents agree that ‘most Americans have an accurate view of the purpose of higher education,’ and just 16 percent say the public has an accurate view of the purpose of their sector of higher education. The leaders of research institutions feel especially misunderstood: just 5 percent of presidents of public doctoral universities and 11 percent at private doctoral and master’s-level institutions say the public understands their sector, compared to 22 percent of community college leaders, for example,” the poll said.

It also revealed that a majority of the presidents say they are more politically active; 55 percent say they spoke out more on political issues in 2017.

“To the extent that concerns about liberal bias are harming the public’s view of colleges, the damage is likely greatest among Republican voters, as recent polls have shown that group is most likely to have lost more faith in higher education. That divide clearly troubles presidents. More than three-quarters say they worry about Republicans’ increasing skepticism, even as 71 percent disagreed that ‘Republican doubts about...

Nucor will build a $240 million steel rebar mill on a 400-acre site in Frostproof Florida..

The 25 percent tariff on imported steel announced last week by
President Donald Trump helped seal the deal on the Frostproof plant
FROSTPROOF – With the announcement of a nearly quarter-billion-dollar steel mill outside Frostproof, Polk County economic-development officials are celebrating one of the county’s biggest recruitment successes.

Nucor Corp. of Charlotte, North Carolina, officially said it will build a $240 million steel mill on a 400-acre site on U.S. 27 just south of Frostproof, about 65 miles east of Bradenton. The company said it expects to create 250 jobs paying an average annual salary of $66,000, plus benefits.

The new plant is one of the biggest new industrial companies ever recruited to Polk County.

“There hasn’t been a project of this size in many years,” said Sean Malott, executive director of the Central Florida Development Council, which helped recruit the company. “This is the biggest manufacturing property Polk County has had the chance to compete on.”

The next-largest project was the Coca-Cola Co. Main Street bottling plant, which opened in 2003 on a 64-acre site in Auburndale, Malott said. The $113 million, 620,000-square-foot plant initially created 100 new jobs and more than 100 additional jobs with later expansions. Beyond the Coca-Cola plant, Polk may not have seen an industrial facility of this size since the 1975 opening of the New Wales phosphate fertilizer plant, now operated by the Mosaic Co., south of Mulberry.

The Nucor “micro mill” will make steel rebar from scrap metal, according to the company, which expects construction to take two years after obtaining required regulatory approvals.

Malott said he had worked to recruit Nucor since June but the breakthrough didn’t happen until last month, when the Polk County Commission approved property-tax and impact-fee breaks worth about $1.5 million.

The 25 percent tariff on imported steel announced last week by President Donald Trump might have helped seal the deal on the Frostproof plant, Malott said. Although he couldn’t say how much of a factor it played in Nucor’s decision, “I think it helped, and it’s one of the reasons the company is looking at expansion opportunities,” he said. “This would be a good thing for U.S. steel.”

Nucor officials were looking for a site of more than 300 acres with railroad access near a major electricity substation that could provide enough power to operate the facility, Malott said. The Frostproof site fit the bill.

Frostproof Vice Mayor Martin Sullivan said he was excited about economic impact to the area. But he was more cautious about how much the city would benefit directly from the Nucor plant because of its location just outside the city limits.

“It will be great; it will be a boon to the local economy,” Sullivan said. “It will be much-needed, given the loss of jobs in the citrus industry.”

Frostproof would benefit more if it annexed the Nucor site into the city, which would add hundreds of thousands of dollars in new property-tax revenue to city coffers, he said.

The city could also benefit by...

The Oldest Pub In The World Is Probably This Irish Pub...

Ireland’s oldest pub dates back to the year 900 CE. When Sean’s Bar was renovated in 1970, they found the walls were made of 10th-century structures. The pub has a record of every owner in its history, including Boy George, and has centuries of photos, artifacts, and memorabilia on display. Guinness World Records has named it the oldest pub in Europe, and it’s most likely the oldest in the world.

FISA judge now linked to demoted anti-Trump FBI agent

A FISA judge who earlier handled proceedings against former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who was targeted by special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into so-far unsubstantiated claims of Trump campaign collusion with Russia, was friends with a now-demoted FBI agent also involved in the scandal, a report says.

Investigative reporter Sara Carter writes that newly released text messages obtained by congressional investigators show the agent, Peter Strzok, “was close friends with a District of Columbia judge who recused himself from the criminal case” involving Flynn.

The messages, given to Congress by the Department of Justice, show Strzok and his paramour, FBI attorney Lisa Page, exchanged messages about Strzok’s relationship with Judge Rudolph Contreras.

He presided over a Dec. 1, 2017, hearing in which Flynn pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI, a charge resulting from Mueller’s work.

Strzok was removed, Carter reported, from the special counsel team when anti-Trump text messages he shared with Page were revealed.

The messages were found by the DOJ’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz.

Then, Carter reports, on Dec. 7 Contreras was removed abruptly from Flynn’s case, with virtually no comment.

Page wrote in a text message to Strzok on July 25, 2016: “Rudy is on the FISC! Did you know that? Just appointed two months ago.”

Carter said: “At that point, the pair continues to discuss other issues but comes back to Contreras, ‘I did. We talked about it before and after. I need to get together with him.’ Then later Strzok appears to return to his discussion about Contreras.

The conversation included messages about being careful not to put the judge in a position in which he would have to drop out of the case.

Page wrote, “I can’t imagine you either one of you could talk about anything in detail meaningful enough to warrant recusal.”

When Strzok explained he was in charge of espionage for the FBI, Page suggested: “Standards for recusal are quite high. I just don’t think this poses an actual conflict. And he doesn’t know what you do?”

Strzok then suggests that a “social setting” meeting would be better than “one-on-one.”

FISA court Judge Rudolph Contreras. Appointed to prior federal court position by former President Obama

Carter reported: “Investigators working with Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Rep. Mark Meadows, both with the House Oversight Committee, discovered the text messages during their ongoing investigation into the FBI’s handling of the alleged Trump-Russia collusion investigation, the congressional members told this reporter.

“Under rules established by DOJ officials, congressional investigators could only review the less-redacted version of the pairs’ text messages at DOJ headquarters and only the highly redacted version of the texts was allowed to be removed during the ongoing process, they said. Of the 1.2 million documents collected by Horowitz’s team, the House Oversight Committee has only received 3,162 “unique documents,” they...

ALERT: Firing Of Andrew McCabe Said To Be “One of Many” To Follow As POTUS Trump Continues To Drain The Swamp

Though many in D.C. thought it could happen, those many are still shocked it actually did happen.

Twenty-fours away from a nearly two-million dollar retirement package, former FBI #2 Andrew McCabe was fired by Attorney General Jeff Session – effective immediately.

McCabe’s loyalty to departed/infamous FBI Director James Comey was well known. So too were his equally anti-Trump leanings. McCabe himself has been implicated in abuse of power and related cover-up allegations, all of which are said to have sealed his fate at the FBI.

Word is Mr. McCabe’s firing is to be “one of many” to follow as President Trump continues to push out those in his administration he understandably finds himself unable to trust. The firing is alos believed to be one of the primary motivators for the “Trump scandals” attempt that is now being ramped up by the Mainstream Media that was rolled out in conjunction with special counsel Robert Mueller’s sudden attack on Mr. Trump’s family business.

Further speculation is also pointing to formal charges being brought against McCabe and others for the roles they played in attempting to illegally influence the 2016 Election outcome – influence that is alleged to directly include both Hillary Clinton and...

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Five Things You Didn't Know About St. Patrick's Day:
St. Patrick Was Not Irish

His birth name was actually Maewyn Succat -- it wasn't until he was in the Church that it was changed to Patricius, or Patrick. St. Patrick, the Apostle of Ireland, was born in Kilpatrick, near Dumbarton, which is in Scotland. As a teenager, he was kidnapped by Irish raiders and enslaved as a shepherd for several years. He attributed his ability to persevere to his faith in God.
Did St. Patrick Drive All the Snakes Out of Ireland?
Despite the popular lore, St. Patrick did not drive the snakes out of Ireland because the island did not have any to begin with. Icy water surrounds the Emerald Isle, which prevented snakes from migrating over.

Green?
Green may be the national color of Ireland, but the color most associated with St. Patrick is blue. The Order of St. Patrick was established in 1783 as the senior order of chivalry in the Kingdom of Ireland. The color associated with the honor needed to differentiate it from the Order of the Garter (dark blue) and the Order of the Thistle (green). So they went with blue.
Largest St. Patrick's Day Parades Are Held Outside of Ireland
The first St. Patrick's Day parade was held in the U.S. The Irish have been celebrating the feast of St. Patrick since the ninth century, but the first recorded parade anywhere was in Boston in 1737. The parade was not Catholic in nature, though, because the majority of Irish immigrants to the colonies were Protestant. Ireland did not have a parade of its own until 1931, in Dublin. Even today, 18 out of the 20 largest St. Patrick's Day parades are in the states -- New York's is the largest.
Shamrock Used to Explain the Holy Trinity
St. Patrick used a three-leafed shamrock to explain the Holy Trinity to pagan Irish, forever linking the shamrock with him and the Irish in the popular imagination. He would tie shamrocks to his robes, which is why the color green is worn.

IRS Documented 1.3M Identity Thefts by Illegal Aliens; Can’t Say It Referred Any for Prosecution

I wonder how many of these voted? In many states all you need is the last four of your SSN to register to vote.

The Internal Revenue Service in 2011 through 2016 documented more than 1.3 million cases of identity theft perpetrated by illegal aliens, according to information published by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA).

However, in response to inquiries from CNSNews.com, the IRS could not say if it had referred even one of these cases for criminal prosecution.

TIGTA, which is the inspector general responsible for overseeing the IRS, discovered another approximately 1.2 million cases in 2017 in which an illegal alien working in the United States had filed a tax return reporting wages that had been earned using a Social Security Number that belonged to someone else or was fabricated.

Yet the IRS also could not say whether it referred any of these cases for criminal prosecution.

'Shall Be Guilty of a Felony'

Using a stolen or fake Social Security Number is a felony.

“The Social Security Act,” TIGTA has noted, “provides that whoever, with the intent to deceive, falsely represents a number to be his or her SSN when, in fact, that number was not assigned to that person, shall be guilty of a felony and subject to a fine, imprisonment, or both. This includes using a false SSN to obtain employment.”

When processing individual tax returns, according to reports filed by TIGTA, the IRS ordinarily encounters two types of identity theft. One involves what TIGTA calls “refund fraud” and the other involves “employment-related fraud.”

In cases of refund fraud, the “identity thief” uses another person’s Social Security Number and personal identification information “to file a fraudulent tax return, reporting fictitious wages and withholdings and obtains a tax refund.”

“Cases of employment identity theft identified by the Internal Revenue Service usually involve an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) filer who used the Social Security Number of another individual, i.e. victim, to gain employment,” TIGTA said in a report released in February.

“Employment identity theft can cause a significant burden to innocent taxpayers, including the incorrect computation of taxes based on income that does not belong to them,” said the report.

The approximately 1.3 million cases of employment-related identity theft documented and recorded by the IRS in 2011 through 2016, involved foreign nationals whom the IRS had given Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITINs).

So, too, did the approximately 1.2 million cases of illegal aliens using Social Security Numbers that belonged to someone else or had been fabricated that TIGTA discovered in 2017.

The numbers of these cases were cited in the TIGTA report released last month. It was entitled, “Most Employment Identity Theft Victims Have Not Been Notified That Their Identities Are Being Used by Others for Employment.”

In the approximately 1.3 million cases, TIGTA said the IRS had placed a “marker” on the accounts of taxpayers whose identities the IRS believed had been stolen. In the approximately 1.2 million cases, TIGTA itself discovered the misuse of Social Security Numbers by ITIN holders by...

EXCLUSIVE: Congressmen Briefed On FBI’s Failure To Investigate ISIS ties to Las Vegas Shooting

In an explosive turn of events, several members of Congress were briefed this week to review evidence that supports the multiple claims by ISIS, that the terrorist organization was responsible for the Las Vegas Shooting.

On Oct 1, 2017, 58 people were gunned down as they attended the Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas, Nevada. Despite being the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, the American public has received little to no information regarding how a lone gunman amassed an arsenal of weaponry, ammunition and equipment without detection or help, and what motivated the act of mass murder.

Sources within the U.S. intelligence community have confirmed to this reporter that several members of Congress were briefed on key evidence from the Las Vegas Shooting this week, which further bolster’s ISIS’s claim that they were responsible for the attack.
The information briefed to members of Congress includes a hotel receipt that suggests additional individuals who have ties to Mexico participated in the Las Vegas Shooting and came in through the US Mexican border, despite the FBI’s claim that Stephen Paddock acted alone and that the shooting was not a coordinated act of terrorism.

The briefing was not disclosed publicly, but this reporter has confirmed that several U.S. congressmen are now aware of the evidence that links the Las Vegas gunmen to ISIS terrorists who may have entered through the U.S.-Mexico border.

Although the FBI has remained adamant in their denial that ISIS played a role in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, there is no denying the fact that ISIS has rarely taken responsibility for an attack they didn’t commit, and even neglected at times to claim some attacks they could have easily taken credit for.

This point has been echoed by the The New York Times’ dedicated ISIS correspondent, Rukmini Callimachi, and Dr. Amarnath Amarasingam, a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Strategic Dialogue, who has conducted numerous social media and in-person interviews with members of ISIS currently fighting in Syria and Iraq.

According to an analysis conducted by Rukmini Callimachi, who previously served as the West African Bureau Chief for Associated Press, out of 50 recent attacks in the West claimed by ISIS, only three were proven false. That’s a 6% error rate competing with an astounding 94% claim of accuracy by ISIS.

“The thing to understand is ISIS considers an attack to be their handiwork if the attacker is sent by them or if he is inspired by them,” Callimachi tweeted in October, 2017. “Beyond the attacks they've claimed, there are many more they could have claimed but didn't. These are attacks where we know it was them.”

Regarding the Las Vegas Shooting, within hours following the attack...

German Teen Murdered by Asylum Seeker After She Refused to Convert to Islam

A German teenager was found dead this week and her Afghan failed asylum seeker boyfriend has been arrested on suspicion of killing her; her friends claim he was angry she would not convert to Islam.

Ahmad G., 18, was arrested this week after police suspect he may have stabbed 17-year-old Mireille B. who was murdered on Monday night in the German town of Flensburg, Bildreports.

According to a friend of the victim’s family, Ahmad G. had been angry with her over her refusal to convert to Islam.

“Ahmad was a jealous rooster who always wanted to control her. They had been an item since January 2016 but there were constant rows. He insisted that she convert to Islam and always wear a headscarf. She wasn’t sure. Whenever she went scarfless there was trouble,” they said.

A police spokesman described the events of the murder saying: “Police and rescue workers were called into an apartment around 6:35 pm on Monday. There was a severely injured 17-year-old with multiple stab wounds.”

A neighbour described the pair as constantly arguing with each other, while another described the victim as a “cheerful, open-minded girl” but admitted he had only seen the girl once, wearing a headscarf and acting in a shy and cautious manner.

The murder is just the latest in a series where women and girls who have been murdered by migrants in Germany since...

8 Times Law-Abiding Citizens Saved Lives With an AR-15

“Why would any law-abiding citizen need an AR-15?”

This question has been a favorite talking point of gun control activists in recent months, grating the ears of many lawful owners of the popular semi-automatic rifle.

Never mind that rifles of any kind account for only a fraction of gun deaths every year, or that some of the worst public mass shootings in American history have taken place with nothing more than handguns.

Never mind that the gun has been readily available to civilians since 1963, and yet has only recently been considered a serious public safety threat worthy of a complete ban.

Never mind that the AR-15 is not an automatic rifle, that it is not particularly powerful compared to other “less scary looking” rifles, or that prohibitions on it have shown no correlation to a drop in gun violence.

The reality is that law-abiding citizens purchase millions of AR-15s (and similar rifles) for one very important overriding reason—the same reason, in fact, that law enforcement officers often use them: They are great for self-defense.

In the words of Andrew Napolitano, the Second Amendment is an extension of the natural right of self-defense that “protects the right to shoot tyrants, and it protects the right to shoot at them effectively, with the same instruments they would use upon us.”

The AR-15 is a preferred weapon of law-abiding citizens because it does precisely that: It effectively confronts the violent threats from tyrants, oppressors, and—most often in post-Revolution America—criminals.

Unlike handguns, the AR-15 is braced against the shoulder and has two separate points of contact for the shooter’s hands. This means the firearm is much more stable, making it easier to handle and fire accurately for smaller or less-experienced gun owners—or for any gun owner facing a life-or-death situation. They are easy to use, easy to maintain, and reliable.

On many occasions where armed self-defense is necessary, simply brandishing a firearm will be enough to deter criminals. But sometimes there is more severe need for the average law-abiding citizen to gain an advantage over multiple or heavily armed attackers.

Those situations, though infrequent, do occur—and when they do, the AR-15 can be the difference between living and dying. Consider these recent cases where the AR-15 made all the difference.
Harris County, Texas (2013)A 15-year-old boy saved both his life and the life of his 12-year-old sister by fending off a pair of home invaders with his father’s AR-15.
Rochester, New York (2013)
Two armed burglars retreated from a college student’s apartment after coming face-to-face with an unloaded AR-15. The rifle itself instilled enough fear to cause them to flee.
Ferguson, Missouri (2014)
During the Ferguson, Missouri, riots, nearly all businesses within a particular 2-square-mile area of the city were looted or destroyed—except for one....

SECRET EMPIRES: Joe Biden’s Son’s Firm Struck Billion-Dollar Deal with the Chinese Government 10 Days After Biden Trip to China

The private equity firm of former Vice President Joe Biden’s son Hunter Biden inked a billion-dollar deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China just 10 days after the father and son flew to China in 2013.

The Biden bombshell is one of many revealed in a new investigative book Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends by Government Accountability Institute President and Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer. Schweizer’s last book, Clinton Cash, sparked an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.

According to an exclusive New York Post excerpt from the book, the Biden billion-dollar China deal occurred as follows. Hunter Biden was the principal of Rosemont Seneca Bohai.

In December of 2013, Vice President Biden and his son Hunter flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Ten days after the trip, a subsidiary of the Bank of China named Bohai Capital signed an exclusive deal with Hunter Biden’s firm to form a $1 billion joint-investment fund called Bohai Harvest RST. The deal was later increased to $1.5 billion.

Joe Biden has yet to comment on how the firm of a sitting vice president’s son was permitted to bag a billion-dollar deal with the Communist Chinese government—nor whether they had any...

EU: More Censorship to "Protect" You

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker. (Photo by Sean Gallup/Getty Images)
  • There appears to be a huge disconnect here between the EU's professedconcern for keeping Europeans safe -- as expressed in the one-hour rule -- and the EU's actual refusal to keep Europeans safe in the offline world. The result is that Europeans, manipulated by an untransparent, unaccountable body, will not be kept safe either online or off. And what if the content in question, as has already occurred, may be trying to warnthe public about terrorism?
  • Regardless of these facts, including that women can no longer exercise their freedom to walk in safety in many neighborhoods of European cities, the EU has staunchly refused to stop the influx of migrants. It is, therefore, difficult to take seriously in any way the European Commission's claim that the security, offline and online, of EU citizens is a "top priority". If that were true, why does not Europe simply close the borders? Instead, the EU actually sues EU countries -- Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic -- who refuse to endanger their citizens by admitting the quota of migrants that the EU assigns for them.
  • These EU ultimatums also fail to take into account what a recent study showed: that the second most important factor in the radicalization of Muslims, after Islam itself, is the environment, namely the mosques and imams to which Muslims go and on which they rely. Although the internet evidently does play a role in the radicalization process, the study showed that face-to-face encounters were more important, and that dawa, proselytizing Islam, plays a central role in this process.

On March 1, The European Commission -- the unelected executive branch of the European Union -- told social media companies to remove illegal online terrorist content within an hour, or risk facing EU-wide legislation on the topic. The ultimatum was part of a new set of recommendations that will apply to all forms of "illegal content" online, "from terrorist content, incitement to hatred and violence, child sexual abuse material, counterfeit products and copyright infringement."

The European Commission said, "Considering that terrorist content is most harmful in the first hours of its appearance online, all companies should remove such content within one hour from its referral as a general rule".

While the one-hour ultimatum is ostensibly only about terrorist content, this is how the European Commission motivated the...
